The Paydirt Report: Week 3As we approach the end of the first quarter of the season, we are left with only 5 teams that don't have a loss. Denver, NY Jets, Houston, New Orleans and Carolina. And on the flip side, we only have 4 teams without a win, Indianapolis, NY Giants, Minnesota and Chicago. It's only 3 games in but this appears to be a very competitive season as far as division races, along with trying to grab that Wild Card spot. Now on to week 3.
AFC West
Denver(3-0) continues their fast early start with a convincing victory over division foe Kansas City(1-2). San Diego(2-1) wins 2 in a row to keep pace with the Broncos. Oakland(1-2) jumps into the win column. After a short stumble, have the defending AFC West champs righted the ship?
East
The NY Jets(3-0) are making a statement to the rest of that tough East division that they better be taken seriously. The Jets knocked off a tough Detroit team and they are doing it with defense. Miami(2-1) wins again and it is a given that they will keep the pressure on the Jets. Buffalo(1-2) drops their second in a row and New England(1-2) loses to drop 2 games back.
North
In one of the toughest rivalries in Paydirt, Cincinnati(2-1) shuts out Cleveland(1-2) to grab the lead in the North. Both Baltimore(1-2) and Pittsburgh(1-2) both win their first games of the year.
South
Houston(3-0) continues to roll. They've opened up a 2 game lead over the rest of the pack which all lost in week 3. Tennessee(1-2), Jacksonville(1-2) and Indianapolis(0-3) all see the Texans start to sail away.
NFCEast
Washington(1-2) wins their first game of the year and grab a share of the NFC East lead. I dont think the rest of the East want to open the door for a team the caliber of the Redskins. But that's just what they did in week 3. Dallas(1-2) and Philadelphia(1-2) lose but still have a share of the division lead.
West
Arizona(2-1) knocks off San Francisco(2-1) to knot up the west in a 3 way tie as Seattle(2-1) rebounds for last weeks lose. Los Angeles(1-2) with this weeks loss drops a game behind.
North
Green Bay(2-1) ties up the North wins their second straight win and a tough loss by Detroit(2-1). And guess what? They face each other next week @ Lambeau Field. Minnesota(0-3) and Chicago(0-3) are struggling early.
South
Carolina(3-0) knocks off Tampa Bay(2-1) who now sits in a position they are not accustom to. And thats chasing down the leaders vs being chased. New Orleans(3-0) cruises to another big margin victory to share the lead in the South. Atlanta(2-1) bounces back to stay in the hunt early on.
