The Paydirt Report: Wild Card WeekendWild Card Weekend is off like a bang. Some upsets were had in the opening round. And a week 16 rematch that no matter which team won it wasn't gonna be an upset. And the results will create some interesting match ups in the Divisional Championship round. Lets get right to it.
Kansas City 21
Houston 20Kansas City upsets Houston in a game where all the scoring was done in the first half. A lot of action was had in the first half. The second half was all about Kansas City holding on for the win. The Chiefs reward? A 3rd game with their division rival the San Diego Chargers. This lost for Houston was a heart breaker. Most viewers expected the Texans to go deep into the playoffs. They had a good year and all the playoff teams in the AFC seem pretty even. This could've been the year for them but they'll have to wait another year.
NY Jets 19
Cincinnati 17This game was an all out battle. The NY Jets grabbed an early 10-0 lead in the 2nd quarter and then the Bengals answered to make it 10-7. From there they would slug it out with the Jets kicking their go ahead and eventual game winning FG midway through the 4th quarter. The Jets would then use defense and some clock eating ball control to seal Cincinnati's fate. The Jets will move on to face their division rival the Miami Dolphins.
Detroit 48
Green Bay 23Green Bay struck first midway through the opening quarter to go up 7-0. After that it was all Detroit in a rout. Aided by the Lions defense which picked off Packer QB Miguel Davis 5 time in the game. The Lions QB Vincent Moses had a stellar day confusing the Green Bay defense all day. He ended up with 17-38 513 yds 6 TD 1 Int. The Lions will move on to face the powerhouse Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the next round of the playoffs.
Dallas 21
Carolina 10The Dallas Cowboys pulled off the biggest upset of Wild Card Weekend with a 21-10 victory over the 14-2 Carolina Panthers. The Cowboys jumped out to a 21-10 half time lead and let their defense do the work to shut down the Panthers powerful run game in the second half. Carolina is not build to come from behind and Dallas masterfully played to Carolina's weakness. The Cowboys move on to face Super Bowl X favorites Seattle Seahawks.
