The Paydirt Report: Divisional RoundA couple of good games in the AFC and a couple of ho-hum games in the NFC brings us to the Conference Championships. The AFC has a former Super Bowl Champion going up against a team with a heck of a lot of momentum. While the NFC has two titans going head to head in a clash of the ages.
AFC Divisional RoundKansas City 14
San Diego 10
The Kansas City Chiefs upend the San Diego Chargers on a second half comeback. The Chiefs lost to the Chargers twice in the regular season, but third times a charm. The Chargers GM jgcruz was reported to be so mad that he flew to Kansas City right after the game to kick KC's GM Meatmen's dog. Now that's a rivalry if I've ever seen one.
Miami 9
NY Jets 6 OT
In another developing rivalry, the Miami Dolphins defeat the New York Jets in overtime. It was a kick fest but it came down to a missed 50 yd FG by NY Jets that decided their fate. The game was played with gale force winds so a long FG was not a gimme. This was the third defeat that the Jets took at the hand of Miami. They will be heading to the off season trying to figure out how to defeat their rival AFC East foe.
NFC Divisional RoundSeattle 27
Dallas 10
The juggernaughts from Seattle spanked the Cowboys from Dallas. The Cowboys played tough in the first half as the score was 10-10 going into the locker room. But the Seahwaks overwhelmed Dallas in the second half to catipult them into the NFC Conference game for their 4th appearance. They are 3-0 in that round. Seatlle is looking to avenge their loss to Tampa Bay last season.
Tampa Bay 38
Detroit 16
The other NFC juggernaught Tampa Bay Buccaneers routed the Detroit Lions in in the sunshine state. Detroit was unable to find an answer to the Bucs potent offense. But Tampa Bay's defense set up their offense with 4 turnovers. This will be Tampa Bay's 3rd Conference Championship appearance. The Bucs still feel the sting of last years Super Bowl loss to Cleveland. So they will be hungry in this one.
So we have two teams with blackflys trophies in their possession and two teams hungry for their first. Will it be status quo or will it be fate?
