Guys, he's not saying you can't draft a player & move them. He's saying the players need to stick to the positions you designate for them to play. Offense on offense & Defense on defense; with the understanding that small, speedy players DO NOT belong on the LOS.

(I really don't think you'll get too much complaining, if you put a DT in the secondary or an OL in the backfield.) Just my opinion.
I'd like to see some more discussion, pro and con, before calling for a vote.
Yes, the rule will be difficult to monitor, but not impossible. Infractions will likely be pointed out by one or more GMs who are victimized by an offending GM. Mostly though, the position use restrictions should be intuitive to most GMs. However, if there are situations where the position use restrictions negatively impact a game plan in an unrealistic fashion, now is the time to raise that issue for all to consider. Thanks.
Being new I believe I should abstain from voting on this measure. I will honor the majority and what they decide.

I don't think that's necessary. You are new to Paydirt, but not to MFN. Hopefully, you have a feel for the game. So feel free to express your thoughts and exercise you vote.

My opinion: I think the rule may be a little too overbearing. Too hard to monitor, but also too hard for new owners/ owners that don't put a ton of time into the game to keep track of an ensure they are following. I believe a rule for the ST (like punt return) is needed. And also a rule for playing defensive players and offensive players on opposite sides of the ball. However, I feel this can be argued because players in real life have done it (ex. Deion Sanders). But these players are few and far between.
My biggest issue when I first read the proposal is that DL can't play LB, but LB can play defensive line. This seems counter-intuitive. Depending on what system you play, defensive players switch positions all the time in the NFL. I am a Titans fan in real life. Derrick Morgan is a recent example of this. In the 4-3 scheme they used to play he was a DE. But when they switched to 3-4 he was an LB.
IDK. I guess ultimately, I will support what the league decides on. I can honestly be swayed either way, but I feel we just need to worry about imposing rules to stop exploits as they occur instead of trying to restrict too much from the beginning.

Morgan is listed by the NFL as a linebacker and weighs 261 lbs. So it’s plausible that at that weight he can play the DL, especially off the edge. However, I’m unaware of any 300 lb LBs. and very few 275 lb. LBs. Nonetheless, if a GM wants to convert a DL to LB he may do so notwithstanding that the player doesn’t drop much weight, I.e., keeps his original weight.

I`d like to suggest only RB`s can play in the RB position.
I`d like to suggest only TE`s play in the TE position.
Most teams just use skinny fast WR`s in both these positions via the over rides.
Lets have strong running backs running inside the tackles.
Lets have big strong blocking TE`s playing the position.
It would also make building a roster more interesting and tactical ,not just having 9 WR`s suited and booted and zero RB`s like Pittsburgh have.

Certainly worth considering. Presumably there would be no restrictions on players changing position. Or would there? Any comments?

There was a topic in Beta about this and it kinda died. I wish JDB would implement higher degree of injury for players out of position ie if you are playing RB and you weight 20 lbs less than RB weight your injury probability increases by X amount. Anyways it’s probably too hard to implement player positions in a league. Overrides hide it unless it’s rushes which you can look at the game log but who wants to do all that?
