ANY GIVEN SUNDAY HEYThe Paydirt Report
MM Beat Edition: Week 8
by Meatmen
Hey, there sports fans! Week 9 is in the Books. I thought it might be fun to post the predictions & results of this week's games. We had a lot of races tighten and a few surprises this week. It was to be tough to be on the road again this week. Let's get right to it and see how the action panned out.
AFC WESTThe Broncos (6-3) were upset by the Bears in a 10-9 squeaker but retained their first place spot as the Chiefs (5-4) get spanked by the Chargers (5-4). Billy Colmin had a pick-six for 44 yards in 1Q and Jordan Tripplet added an 18 yrd TD run in the 2Q. The Chefs never got any sort of offensive going and San Diego just like that is tied for 2nd with KC. Oakland (3-5) shut out the patriots 19-0 to stay in the hunt.
AFC EASTThe Bills (5-4) go down to the Bucs 31-10 to remain in the divisions top spot. Miami wins over the Colts to move within a game of Buffalo. The Jets (3-6) lose their 2nd in a row but hold on to 3rd place just 2 games back. The Patriots also lose their 2nd in a row to drop to (2-7) and started chopping the mire-a-poux for a huge batch of postseason chowder to keep them warm at home.
AFC NORTH Lyle Castenada's pick 6 of Larry Walker for 22yds and Javier Gray's 5 yd run to cap off a 71 yd 7 play drive was enough to Give the Ravens only their second loss of the season as The Redskins pull out a 17-13 upset of the Ravens (17-13). The Browns (6-3) get an important division win in a 37-16 romp over the last-place Steelers (1-8). Bryan Palumbo returned a punt for 73 yards and Dwight King has 2 interceptions/ 1 for a 96-yard pick 6. (longest I've seen in MFN). led the browns effort. Cincinnati (6-3) loses to Dallas but remains in a tie for 2nd.

AFC SOUTHThe Colts (6-3) go down to Miami 28-10 to get their 2nd loss in a row. once undefeated and looking like they might run away with the division a few hiccups and whaddya know? Do we have a Horse race here? Houston (4-5) picks up a huge win over the Titans (1-8) to gain some ground as Calvin Lopez went 16/19 for 378 yards and
5 TDs Kevin Pickett ran for 198 yards 1 TDs WR Herman Ingraham caught 4 passes for 147 yards and 3 TDs at 35-3 this one was over at the half. Jacksonville (4-5) gets a 17-13 upset victory over the Seahawks to stay in a tie for second with Houston.
NFC EASTThe Cowboys (6-3) take the Bengals out to lunch and stick em with the check 60-31 to stay atop the division. Jonathon Robinson went 28/38 357 yards and 3 TDs, Robert Cook 4 rec for 145 yds and 2 Tds and George Hanna caught 6 for 98ydsand a TD to lead the charge. The Cowboys D had 6 interceptions and a sack of Micheal Lemanski. Washington (5-4) wins to keep close, 1 game back of the Boys. The Giants (3-6) suffered defeat at the hands of the Saints 10-6. 8 interceptions and only 1 TD combined in this one! The Eagles ((3-6) take the loss to bring up the rear...Meh
NFC WESTAre the Seahawks (6-3) imploding? They go down17-13 at home to the Jags. The big news here is
Arizona/Coach norm (6-3) has his 4th win in a row under his belt and has quietly moved into a tie for 1st place. Their best record in 9 games since the 1977 season. It was the Rams (4-5) turn to take the 49ers (1-8) to the woodshed this week and they gained a game in the division race. QB Roger Zook went 24/46 228yds and
5 TDs to lead the offense. After the 49ers MLB Shannon Stroud got the Giants on the board early. Zook tokk over and sent the Giants D out to get the switch.
