The Paydirt Report
MM Beat Edition: Week 13
by Meatmen
Hey there sports fans! I thought it might be fun to compare beercloud’s predictions to what has transpired thus far in the ‘82 season. BTW, If you put it out there it may end up in this post. Beer traditionally has taken some shots about jinxing teams. I am guilty of that myself but it is all in good fun and it is always interesting because more often than not he is close if not right. While there is still a lot of time left in this season. he seems to be on track so far. how will all end? stay tuned football nerds. In the meantime, let's get down to business of week 13.
AFC WESTX-Chargers
Raiders
Chiefs
BroncosThe Broncos (9-4) Open up a 2 game lead slipped past Detroit 21-17. Broncos may have found the magic they had earlier in the saeson winning their 3rd in a row.. The Chiefs (7-2) continue to have offensive trouble as the Raiders (4-8) upset the Chiefs and take a crack being the designated spoiler. The Raiders who beat the Broncos to open their season face off with the division leading Broncos in week 16. Meanwhile, in San Diego the Chargers (6-7) dispose of Indy 20-10 to stay in the hunt.
AFC EASTX-Bills
Dolphins
Jets
Patriots Miami (7-6) holds on to the division lead by a game despite a loss to the Ravens (32-20). Buffalo (6-7) gets spanked 42-9 by Carolina to suffer their 2nd consecutive defeat as they fall into a tie with Blackfly’s Jets who have won 3 of their last 4. The Jets have the most favorable schedule with The Steelers and Patriots the next 2 weeks but could get tripped up by the Jags in the final week. The Patriots (2-11) lose again.
AFC NORTHX-C-Ravens
y-Bengals
Browns
SteelersThe “POWERHOUSE RAVENS” !?!?!, WHAT!, wha, wha, wwhhhaaattttttt! Yes, I said it (Ravens) soar to 11-2 to win their 4th in a row with a victory over Miami 32-20. The Bengals who get their 2nd win in a row as they take a turn in the woodshed with New England 46-6.. Cincy, who is quietly having a darn good season, has the fifth seed by a game over the Chiefs, Dolphins, Colts, and Jaguars. The Browns (6-7) remain in the hunt but have slipped to a distant 3rd with their 4th loss in a row. The Steelers take their 11th on the chin.
AFC SOUTH[iX-Texans
Y- Colts
Jaguars
Titans][/i]
YIPPEE-KY-AYE MMMMMMMYYYYY FOOOTBALLLL NOWWWWWW! We got us a horse race. I said last week this was the hottest division in paydirt and the Titans (2-11) beat the Texans (7-6)? The Texans get a big Texas Surprise 39-22, Tennesee as their former incarnation?...... DD channeled an alt universe Oilers team and whooped up Texas style on the division leaders by 17. The Colts (7-6) miss an opportunity here losing to the Chargers and The Jags rock the Steelelrs 20-9. The Titans enjoy a rare moment in the spotlight with a win. (this season). Do we have another spoiler here in Tennesee?????
NFC EASTX-Cowboys
Redskins
Giants
EaglesI wanna be a Cowboy > Baby (Kid Rock)! The Cowboys (10-3) win their 7th in row over the Redskins (7-6) and are looking real good for the #2 seed in the NFC. A Hard fought game, the skins led at the half 10-0. The Boys put up 10 unanswered in the 3Q to tie it up and as the game moved to the 4Q the fireworks started! The Cowboys came out on top with a TD with 58 seconds left to take a 3 game lead and relegated Washington to the Wild Card pool. The Giants gave the Bucs a game but fell short. Coach Simson who has been on his “Fly S&%t Tour” as my dad used to say (He’s everywhere) lol. Looks like he is going to settle in Philly. I have said it before. Philly (3-10) could be a really good team with the right direction.
NFC WESTX- Rams
Sea Hawks
Cardinals
49ersSeattle (9-4) losses to the Rams (8-5) in an upset 33-13 and opens the door both LA & Arizona (8-5) to stay within a game. The Cards missed a chance at a first place Losing 10-3 to the 49ers (2-11)?????? The Cards have Seattle next week and LA the week after in an uphill battle for first.. (2-11). The Rams, based on their remaining schedule probably have the best chance. This year the only thing that is certain is Nothing is certain in the NFC WEST.
NFC NORTHX-C- Packers
Y- Lions
Vikings
BearsThe Lions (9-4) drop their 2nd in a row to Denver and miss a chance to put the Bears (7-6) out of division contention as the Bears beat the Packers (4-9) 20-3. The two teams meet next week and the Bears are in a must win situation to keep pace in the division race. The Vikings(3-10) have responded to O-taco’s message winning thier 3rd consecutive, Has he changed the culture in Minnesota? Perhaps backing over that mailbox containing the “E” Repeatedly with his truck was precisely what they needed to witness? LOL> (you don’t have to be Terry Bradshaw to figure that one out!).
NFC SOUTHX-C-Panthers
Y-Falcons
Buccaneers
SaintsThe Bucs (12-1) win their 6th straight and Carolina (12-1) rolls to thier and even dozen wins in a row. This one is gonna be settled Head2Head this week darn toot-tin' ? The Falcons (8-5) have a weird strategy of telling others that they are out of it and the season is doomed? IDK WHY? They rose to defeat the Saints (6-7) to stay perched in the 6th seed with the Rams and Cards. The saints are hagin on by a thread in the WC race.
All right there we go! My look at week 13. Quickly, the races are heating up, I’ll fix my gaze upon the contenders. I respect and appreciate all of you GM's in this league. However, the time has come as it does every season to focus on the contending teams. I mean no disrespect if I do not mention you. Frankly, unless your team impacts a team in contention for a wild-card spot or division race I will more than likely focus on the races. I usually don’t do GOTW bcuz every game is important in my view. This week being predictions week I will endeavour to entertain you with my humble opine.
Carolina (12-1) (-4) @ Tampa (12-1)/Everyone is watching this one. The Bucs won the first one. Given the 4.5 even up BS rule it’s a toss up! When the two biggest kids on the block come FACE2FACE there is bound to be an EXPLOSION!
Indianapolis (7-6) @ Texas (7-6) (-4)/Indy won a close one 3 weeks ago another toss up.
Chicago (7-6) @ Detroit (9-4) (-4)/ a must win for the Bears as contention goes….it’s new ground for this team...could they simply make a statement for the future?
Arizona (8-5) @ Seattle (9-4) (-10) one of these teams will be tied with the Rams for 1st place. The other while probably not out will be left to question how he blew that lead?
Honorable mention/ just cuz the AI picked this as GOTW.
Minnesota (3-10) Oakland (4-9) 2 teams that with smart, capable, and experienced GM’s that could beat you and spoil your dreams! Take nothing for granted in Pay Dirt!
Other important games
Mia @ Atlanta
SD @ BUFF
KC @ Jacksonville
Thinning of the herd, impending doom, frenetic ecstasy and a possible coronal mass cardiac mass infarction! WHO KNOWS? IT’S PAY DIRT B%#C*!s..Gotta love it. till next week “THAT’S THE MEAT OF THE MATTER”!..........................................................MM
* My sincerest apologies to the NFC WEST once agian my cut and paste skills are at fault...we all love and respect your efforts. will edit this later right now RL calls................MM/ *edited*
